The Nivkh live in the north part of Sakhalin island and around the Amur-river estuarium. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nivkh_p... In this part of her carreer Cherkassova made etnographick animation, as far as I know in a collaboration with Sverdlovks film studio( Later called Sverdlovsk 'a-film') with the Ural State University Etnography department. The Nivkh lived in the region at least since the neolithicum and late- pleistocene, and are the forefathers of the north-western american indian tribes.
